Back to School

Hard to believe that another school year is already here. Emma is in her last year of Junior High. Noah is in 6th grade, Jacob is in 5th grade, and Joel is starting 3rd grade. They all had a fun summer and were ready to get back to school and see all of their friends. Michael was gone the entire first week of school, so things were a little crazy around here.

Gordon Creek Hike

On our way to the ward campout we went just east of Christopher Creek to hike the Gordon Creek Trail. Now, when I found this trail on the internet I thought it was a well-marked, well-used trail. I should've known when the first direction was "Stop at the light pole just past a small turn-out." We had to go through a couple of gates and make up our own trail along the way, but it was a beautiful trip. At the end you are rewarded with small double waterfalls. The second waterfall (which I for some reason didn't take a picture of) empties into a pool of water about eight feet deep. You could go swimming - if the water wasn't about twenty degrees! We did take off our shoes and socks and sit and put our feet in the water.

Halftime?

So we went with my parents and all the boys to see the final performance of "The Music Man" last night. Now, I know I watch a lot of sports, but it might be rubbing of on my children. Throughout the first act Jacob kept asking, "When is halftime?"

Music Man

Tomorrow night Emma will complete her second production of the year - "The Music Man." This was a much different production than Joseph, but she learned a lot and had a lot of fun. This took months of rehearsal, practice, and planning. We are so proud of her and her ability to manage her life, maintain straight A's, and be a part of a top-rate production. I wonder what next year will bring?

The Cost of Beauty

The picture above is the after picture. The two below are both before pictures.

For Emma's new musical she had to have her hair in fairly tight ringlet curls. Well, apparantely the solution to this is to use these new curlers. After calling 15 different Sally Beauty supplies, Michael finally made a last minute trip to Casa Grande to secure the needed supplies. This was immediately followed by a phone call starting, "Did you have any idea how much that was going to cost?!" Well, yes I did, I just thought I would keep it a little secret until it was too late.

So, Emma has been wearing these in her hair to school for three days straight. At least she isn't alone and the end result is pretty great.

Court of Honor March 2010

l
We had a busy night at pack meeting tonight. Noah received his Arrow of Light Award, Jacob received a couple of activity pins and belt loops, and Joel received his Bobcat award. Tonight was the last night that all three boys were in their cub scout uniforms at the same time.
